The
seed for these "superior" trees were collected at the
Pawpaw Germplasm Reserve and Regional Variety Trials at Kentucky
State University. The best available Pawpaw cultivars are grown
in this orchard, as well as many new ones still being evaluated,
and representatives from throughout the native range of the Pawpaw,
encompassing a truly wide range of Pawpaw genetics. We highly recommend
these "superior" trees to you, as a means of accessing
the wealth of the genetic potential of the Pawpaw. |
We
have sprouted these Superior seed for you, and grown them to 12+
inches long, overall. This unique product, Bareroot Superior
Baby Pawpaw Trees, gives you a big head start in growing
your Pawpaw trees, compared to starting them from seed. You will
receive healthy, vigorous plants, ready to continue growing for
you. They are growing in full sun now.
Complete instructions are included with each order. |
We
offer these as an inexpensive way to start your Pawpaw patch. They
are growing crowded close together in containers, and consequently
have not grown much. This grade of plants are known as "liners"
in the nursery trade, because they are "lined out" in
rows in the field to grow further. Our Potted
Superior Baby Trees are the same trees
except they have been individually planted in 60 cubic inch cells
and are much bigger now and
growing rapidly. |
These Baby Pawpaw Trees are sturdy and easy to
handle. Pot them up now *
and plant them in the ground next Fall before they go dormant, or
overwinter and plant them out next Spring. Another option is to
plant them out in the ground now, but since they are so small, they
will benefit from your special care and attention, including water,
fertility, weed control, and mulch.

Complete
growing instructions are included with each order. |

We use and recommend Stuewe D60 Deepots for potting up trees of
this size. http://stuewe.com/products/deepots.html
