Pawpaw Trees in Containers

We ship these to you all green and leafed out,
ready to continue growing at your place.

Grown from the seed collected at wild patches in the Arkansas Ozarks, and throughout the Pawpaw's native range, these trees are offered for growing fruit, as specimens, for attracting Zebra Swallowtail butterflies, and as rootstock .

This year's crop of
New Superior Pawpaw Seedlings

Grown from seed collected at the germplasm reserve and Advanced Selections Regional Variety Trials orchard at Kentucky State University. These trees represent a wide genetic variation, and will have interesting diverse characteristics. Grow several of them, they will be all different. Some of their parents are among the best fruiting Pawpaws known!

These little trees first send their tap root to the bottom of the pot, then emerge from the soil. They were a few inches tall when this picture was made, on May 11. They will be taller as the season progresses.

The Zebra Swallowtail butterfly, which only lays its eggs on Pawpaw trees, since that is all its larvae eat.
If you want Zebras, you have to have Pawpaws.

Scruffy Pawpaw Trees

These little trees may be mis-shapen, small, broken and re-sprouted, or otherwise didn't make the grade. With your help they may become big, productive trees.

Yum!

Grafted Trees

Buds from named cultivars, selected for fruit quality and other desirable traits, are grafted onto common rootstock. The resulting trees are likely to produce fruit of outstanding quality, similar to that of their parents.
